Perfect for Ecomm Startup

The startup theme is perfect for my new ecomm startup. Clean, beautiful, and easy to navigate. PLUS, and this is the best part, Pixel Union's support is simply amazing. Highly recommend for someone who is launching a product / simple online business and wants a slick, professional, and easy to use website.

Perfect, A+

The theme itself is A+ and perfect for our needs, but even better than the theme itself is the support that is provided!! Anything I need, the Pixel Union is very responsive and can even make technical changes on my theme that are outside of my knowledge capabilities. 100% recommended

Beautiful theme, great customer support

Once we saw this theme, my business partner and I tried it immediately and then bought it. There were a couple glitches but all of them were quickly fixed and all our questions were answered by Susie and Steve. It's a beautiful theme and their support team is responsive and friendly.

Answers

How do I install the theme once I’ve purchased it?

Easy! We’ll email you a zip file, which you can upload via the “Online Store” section of your Shopify admin. Simply click “Upload theme” and it will be there for you to customize, preview, and publish when you’re ready.

Does this theme work with larger-sized catalogs?

Yes, it does. Startup is built to scale as your company grows. Although it is optimized for single-product stores, Startup also works with larger catalogs.

Can I customize the theme styles? Or can I use one theme style on one page and another style on a different page?

Yes and yes! We created these theme styles to show the diversity of Startup’s features, but you can pick and choose however you want. Think of the styles as jumping-off points.

Can I use our company’s font?

Maybe. If your company’s font is available in the Shopify font library or through Typekit, you can use it in the theme. If it’s a Typekit font, you will need to edit your theme’s code

Can you help me customize the theme?

We can help you get set up and familiarize yourself with Startup’s features, but we can’t guarantee support for extensive customizations. That said, we’ll do whatever we can to help you find a viable solution.

Does this theme integrate with all Shopify apps?

Not all, but many! All Pixel Union themes integrate with Pixel Union apps. If you’re using an app from another developer, please contact them to see if it plays well with Startup.

Updates

November 28th, 2018 – v8.4.4

  • We’ve added the option to add your own favicon
  • Theme now asks Google to only index each collection page once, to improve SEO
  • Empty first slide in Slideshow section no longer causes the second slides image to not show
  • Applied a CSS conditional to specify the width of the product quantity input for IE11.
  • Resolved Liquid error on Password page
  • You can now choose to show a lock icon on the checkout button

September 27th, 2018 – v8.4.3

  • We might have included the wrong video javascript file, but it’s all fixed up now, so who’s to say?

September 27th, 2018 – v8.4.2

  • We’ve reordered the preexisting theme choices! It’s all the same really, we just like it better this way.
  • We retired the old ‘video with text’ section and gave the NEW video section a width option.
  • The currency exchange note now appears correctly on the cart page below the express checkout options.

September 6th, 2018 – v8.4.1

  • The Video section now has a width option, so the ‘Video With Text’ section has finally been retired due to being a bit outdated.

August 23rd, 2018 – v8.4.0

  • The text columns with images section now has an image width slider so you can upload crisp, high res images and they display at whatever size you want (within reason, and the slider).
  • We’ve merged the two homepage video sections into one! Now you can enjoy having an overlay, as well as a header, on your video sections.
  • You didn’t ask for it, but we assumed that everybody likes having more options, so we added more options for the video section, such as cover images and customizable overlay colours.
  • When opacity was set on a video, it (along with all the text) wouldn’t disappear when the video is played, and what good is that?
  • The newsletter section heading has now fallen in line and is styled like the other homepage sections-one of us, one of us, one of us.
  • When videos are set to autoplay they’ll now start playing on mute. This way you won’t scare off all your customers with blasting music upon landing on your store, because no one is ready for that.

August 20th, 2018 – v8.3.2

  • We’ve gone ahead and done a simple reorder of the theme presets in settings_data.json.
  • Ugghhh, we also removed an unsightly gap between the product description and the ‘more info’ links on the slideshow product template because it wasn’t very sightly.
  • Following the principle of least surprise, now when you change the heading font style, the heading fonts will actually change style!

August 2nd, 2018 – v8.3.1

  • We’ve fixed the issue where all touch devices were showing the drawer menu no matter the browser size.
  • The contact page now has one and only one heading!
  • Also, the Dynamic Payment Buttons now obey the button font settings and match the add to cart button.

July 26th, 2018 – v8.3.0

  • We added the ability to select a default social sharing image, so you always know what your shoppers will see when they share certain pages of your site that aren’t product pages.
  • There was an issue where the first slideshow image was displayed at a different size than the rest of them, even if they were all the same size.
  • The alignment on product quantity labels has been fixed in order to keep it looking as pretty as it should!
  • Fixed an image with with text overlay button style so the accent style matches the others.
  • We’ve tweaked the margins on the featured blog posts to keep all sections nice and uniform.

July 23rd, 2018 – v8.2.2

  • We’ve made the borders on the Shopify payment icons consistent.

July 10th, 2018 – v8.2.0

But it’s back to normal now. You can direct all thankyous to Adam and Joe. Thank you, Adam and Joe.
