If you run a Shopify store, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve encountered one of Bold’s products. With more than 20 killer apps to choose from and thousands of five-star reviews in the App Store, Bold has been a leader in Shopify app development since 2012 (back when the agency was adorably and not-at-all-confusingly called “Shappify”).
With the holiday rush approaching, we thought we’d round up a few of our favourite apps by our friends at Bold. This is by no means an exhaustive list (you can see all of Bold’s Shopify apps here) but it’s a great place to start if you’re looking to give a boost to your online store. Bold offers free trials on all of its products, so if any of these catch your eye, there’s no reason not to give it a shot!
The app that started it all. Since its debut in 2012, Bold’s Product Upsell app has helped thousands of merchants increase total overall conversions by approximately 22 percent. In a nutshell, it allows merchants to offer single or multiple products to customers based on the items in their cart and the total dollar amount of those items. We’re big proponents of upping average order value, and Product Upsell is an excellent way of doing that.
If you want to sell products on a subscription basis, you’ll need an app like Recurring Orders. With nearly 50,000 installs, Bold’s app sets itself from similar products by catering specifically to physical products and supporting single-product, mixed-cart, and entire-cart subscriptions. If you’re switching over from a different subscription app, Bold has a dedicated account manager on staff to help you import your subscriptions and get set up.
Loyalty points are a great way of incentivizing customers to come back to your store, and plenty of options exist for Shopify merchants wanting to implement a loyalty program. Bold’s offering is one of the simplest, letting merchants award points to their customers for buying products, which can later be redeemed towards subsequent purchases. Other apps offer more complicated referral programs—giving discounts based on referrals, likes, shares, and so on—but Loyalty Points is a true “points-for-purchase” program.
One of the most popular apps in the App Store, Product Discount is like a Swiss Army knife for running sales and discounts. The app lets you create sales based on product type, brand and collection, as well as on a product-by-product and storewide basis. Daily deals can be scheduled ahead of time, and the app even features a “countdown clock” that you can display in your store to increase urgency among shoppers.
Customer Pricing is a versatile app that allows you to offer specific prices to certain customers. You can use it to offer wholesale pricing, allow customers to buy memberships in order to receive discounts, and even reward customers with lower prices based on their annual spending. Unlike similar apps, Bold’s product doesn’t rely on coupon codes, making it more secure. It’s a great option if you want to use the same storefront for retail and wholesale.
With over 1,000 reviews, Product Options is Bold’s most popular app for good reason. It lets you add a huge variety of options to product pages—drop-downs, text entries, calendar dates, file uploads, checkboxes, radio buttons—and bulk-apply these options to thousands of products in one click. The app’s premium version includes real-time price adjustments, as well as conditional logic that shows and hides options based on previous selections. It’s a powerful app and a must-have for merchants with highly detailed product offerings.
